Join us for an evening with Rob Heard – Shrouds of the Somme
SSAFA Somerset is delighted to present in association with Shrouds of the Somme and Bath and West Enterprises, an evening with Rob Heard at the brand new Wessex Pavilion.
This is a unique opportunity to hear about Rob’s journey and inspiration behind the project. His tribute to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice at the Battle of the Somme in 1916 has received worldwide acclaim and media interest. One of the most significant displays of this work took place at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London which attracted televised coverage across the world.
Rob developed the idea to represent the total of 72,396 unfound casualties from the entire battle. Names of the fallen are inscribed on the Thiepval Memorial in Northern France. The six inch shrouded effigies were created by hand and we are delighted that approximately 3,000 of these will be displayed in the Main Ring at the showground for this event.
